A birds eye view of the pier

This is a bird’s eye view of Weston’s Grand Pier taken from a helicopter this week.
TR Demolition has now finished removing over 500 tonnes of twisted steel and blackened wood, which was all that remained of the pavilion after the devastating fire in July.

The underside of the pier is now being sand-blasted clean and experts brought in to test the supporting metal piles.
Pier owners Kerry and Michelle Michael are currently scouring the globe looking for new rides and they hope to submit new architectural plans to North Somerset Council before Christmas.
Bristol-based architect Angus Meek was chosen out of a shortlist of six to make re-build the Pavilion and to make sure a phoenix rises out of the ashes that will entertain tourists and locals well into the 21st century.
